EZ, PZ Upholstery

This is our bedroom when we moved in our house years ago, and I know you are thinking wow my college dorm looked better than that, but keep in mind we had our stuff in storage for almost a year trying to build this house.  I wasn't about to go into debt for beautiful bedroom furniture (although it was a nice thought), nor did I have a place to put it while we lived with my dear mother! So this is what we had when we moved in.  And to be honest we don't really have much more than that now.  Still hand me downs from Grandma..duh! but to kick it up a notch  I did.......

Upholster the headboard and buy some bedding and add some curtains, what a difference those things can make, the rest is the same old stuff, but the headboard was actually made from covering foam, like styrofoam but denser and it has paper on the back and front ( I am sure there is a name for this stuff).  Hard to explain but it is supposed to be used for roofing insulation under metal roofs. Long story of where I got this stuff, but Home depot has something similar to it.  It actually turned out so easy to staple gun onto and to hang on the wall~I hope I have inspired you to look beyond the same old batting and plywood because I didn't use either one of those for this project.  Oh and did I mention that foam was free, precisley the reason I used it in the first place.

OK, do tell-- is this stuff heavy or light? and Home Depot has it? I must know more because I am about to embark on the headboard project and the thing that was holding me back was the thought of luggin a heavy piece of plywood home. I like how you made the headboard so tall and you dont have to worry about having "something" above your bed.

Kerri, Very creative and beautiful idea for the headboard. It makes a huge statement. But my favorite part is the little bed "accessory" you have. OOOOOOOH, precious!

What a great job! I cannot believe that you created that headboard with roofing insulation. Good for you for thinking outside the box. It looks like someone found a comfy spot to take a nap as well. So sweet...
