Cheap and SOOOOO Easy Homemade Baby Wipes!

I did this more for the FRUGALITY aspect but after looking at the ingredients in baby wipes, that had me a little concerned too!

Even the "NATURAL" baby wipes have chemicals.

Here is a list of some of the ingredients in baby wipes that are NOT natural and can be found in the "natural" wipes you buy...

Potassium Laureth Phosphate - This is a synthetic (man made) humectant. Humectants are used to keep the skin moist. Synthetic humectants create a suffocating film on the skin to prevent moisture loss. Chemicals with "eth" in the title should be avoided as it will often be contaminated with dioxane, which is linked to birth defects and cancer.

Polysortbate 20 - A synthetic emulsifier. Emulsifiers are used to keep ingredients such as oil and water together. Synthetic emulsifiers are skin irritants.

Tetrasodium EDTA - EDTA is a synthetic preservative, which can be an irritant, particularly to the eyes. Synthetic preservatives are considered by leading dermatological associations to be the number one cause of contact dermatitis.

Methyl paraben - This is another synthetic preservative, which is derived from crude oil. It is toxic and allergenic.

Okay, so here is how you make your own!  I was REALLY surprised that it was so EASY!

2 Tablespoons of Natural Oil (Canola is what I used)
2 Tablespoons Natural Baby Soap  ( makes them smell so good and baby-ish)
2 cups water (purified is best)

I used the paper towels that are half sheets and folded them on the lines until I had a stack as big as I wanted

This is about 1/4 of the roll,  if that

Then I cut the stack in thirds to fit in the box

Mix the solution and pour it over the paper towels in the wipe box

Then I rung them out, because it was way too much solution.

I would say make half the solution for about a half a roll of paper towels.

This only took me 5 minutes tops!

I am never without baby wipes even for my 6 year old, especially when we travel!

I know this will be soooooo much cheaper for me and better on my kids skin!

P.S. If you want even MORE  NATURAL do not use Bleached Paper Towels!

If you are not into the paper towel method, you can always do the same thing with thin baby washcloths and wash them I guess and/or put the solution in a spray bottle and use as needed.

This is my first batch and so far they work great, and totally worth a shot!

Easter Pic or Special Occasion HairDO! First of 4

Easter is in a month or so and I know I will be taking my kiddos pics in thier special little coordinating outfits like the rest of you.  So I posted this tutorial for all you looking for a cute hairdo to go with those Gorgeous kiddos of yours!

I am doing my daughters hair for church every Sunday anyway.  So, I thought why not show Blogland just incase you need a dressy DO for your upcoming Pics or Sunday best.  Hope you enjoy....

First of all you will need the following...

I cannot STRESS ENOUGH how important it is to have some really GOOD hairspray and by GOOD I mean really putting a hole in the ozone layer kind of hairspray ...Sorry Mr. Ozone,  I love you but I also like my hair to stay put! And a good brush like above to make it smooth.

Next you will need an adorable little girl and if you are this far into the post I am assuming you have one or more of those.  Part her hair to the side or you can do it straight back if you want.

Leave some out, we will get to that later.  Pull the rest back into a ponytail, pretty high up, but don't pull the whole ponytail thru your last time around.

Then split the hair from the ponytail that is hanging,  into 4 sections....
Then you start to roll each section toward the head...

Keep rolling until you get back to the head

Keep rolling until you get it tight to the head

Then bobbypin it on each side of the roll.  Continue with the other 3 sections remaining to start forming them around the one in the middle

Stay with me it is coming together.  In this pic I am on my last section.  The one in the middle is the pony tail you did not pull all the way thru!
And Badda Bing Badda Boom here is a cute hairdo for Easter pics and Sunday best or special occasion

The piece left over curl and place behind the ear.

Then curl any left over hair that was to short to get pulled back.

Like this.

I will be posting 3 more hair do's before Easter hope you enjoy!!!
My hat is off to all those out there posting tutorials...not an easy task!

And thanks to the hubbs for taking the pics when you would have rather been taking your Sunday nap!
And OF COURSE to my pookey butt, Dee Dee for modeling and enduring the hairdo tutorial!
Tootoolou for now!
